Question about S days
Has anyone t tried doing S days from Friday evening (dinner) through Sunday afternoon. Basically, sundown Friday to sundown Sunday. I don't want to tweak things too much, too soon (I'm just two weeks into no s), but often Friday evening is when we go out - or I'm just so pooped from a week's work that I feel like getting take-out, etc.
Thanks for your wisdom and advice in advance.

Yes, it's a not-too-unusual mod. But, take-out in and of itself is No-S approved as long as it isn't a sweet, ya know. Had some last night, myself. Took the food from the take-out container, and put it on a plate. (Ahhh, delicious sushi.) If that's the only thing you're really craving, I don't think it's worth a mod in your case.
And if you disagree, do the mod!

That's too funny....I just added that mod to my diet last night, and at that time hadn't heard of anyone else doing it.
I did vanilla through the holidays and was fine, but for some reason I'm having a hard time getting back on track. Since I'm struggling a bit this time around, I decided to start that mod because around 5:00 on Fridays, I just want to be done with the rules for a while. As soon as I get a handle on things a little better, I might go back to vanilla with just an allotted treat on each S Day, which worked for me in the past.
But I agree with NoelFigart.....if you're doing the mod just for takeout on Fridays, it's unncessary as that's totally allowed on No S! I just applied the mod because by Friday night I need my CHOCOLATE.
Good luck!

When I took regular S days I always did this. I think that once or twice a year there might have been events where the S day extended beyond the evening meal on Sunday.
I agree with NoelFigart -- neither take-out nor eating out makes an occasion an "S".

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Just knowing I have the freedom to make this work for me (while still working toward vanilla S as a goal) is helpful. 45 years of obsessive adhearing to diets and then always blowing it has truly let to an unhealthy relationship with food. I don't trust myself at all.

Re: Question about S days
Yes. I do this, and have since I started No S. I'm Jewish, and our Shabbat dinner is on Friday night. Shabbat dinner is supposed to be the most special dinner of the week (and generally is, in our house), and no way am I making that an N day.Whidbey Woman wrote:Has anyone t tried doing S days from Friday evening (dinner) through Sunday afternoon. To keep things consistent, I start all my days at dinner time. I don't use sunset, since we have our dinners, including Shabbat dinner, on a schedule that suits us, not one dictated by sunset. That means Sunday night dinner is an N-day meal.
There's nothing in No S that says when a day starts. So you can pick whatever time is convenient for you.
Takeout and restaurant meals, however, are allowed on N days, as long as all the food you eat fits on one plate.
It's a small treek, if a tweek at all, and if you don't eat out all that often, I think it's more fun when you can take advantage of the "extra's" like appetizer or whatever and possibly dessert. I say go for it!
