One more tip: Milk is your friend.

Hey there,
I'm new too - well, sort of. I visited this site regularly a couple of years ago and realized this was the most sensible eating plan I'd ever read or heard about. Began to follow it and lost 25 pounds as a result! The mistake I made, though, was that I didn't continue on with the good NoS habits, and allowed 15 of those pounds to slowly creep back on. Started NoS-ing again a few days ago (March 1st) and it feels wonderful to be back on it once more! I also decided I wanted to join up here this time so I'm not trying to go it alone. I think that will help a lot. So I guess that's my little tip for you - find support from others, and last but not least - patience and discipline are the keys!

I wish you total success (and know you will if you follow these few siimple rules). All the best!

Welcome!

Two things that have helped me alot lately is (1) keeping all things that you crave OUT of the house - that pretty much eliminated my late-night snacking. And (2) relying on the NO S forum for support. Everyone here is wonderful, with lots of encouragement and advice.

Good luck in your No S journey! :)

If it's not a sweet, you can drink anything you like.

I drink coffee between meals a lot. Unless you find you're having a problem, there's no reason to put restrictions on this. I mean, if you were chugging a BigGulp full of orange juice or something, yeah, there might be an issue.

Green tea? Pfft! Enjoy.

NoS is really about limiting your opportunities to consume calories. So if beverages are no/low calorie, go ahead. I drink tea and coffee at will, and put lemon or lime juice and Truvia in ice water whenever I want. I drink a lot of water.

If I had words of wisdom for you, they would be don't turn this into a religion: no snacks, no sweets, and no seconds except (sometimes) on days that start with an S. There is nothing that tricky about it. It's simple. It's not always easy, but it's simple.

For a while, make sure all your meals have protein (and fat). otherwise, it can be difficult to make it to the next one.

Yep. Been there, done that.

Sometimes it's harder to keep the weight off then it is to lose it. Reinhard is right about this: maintenance is the key, and sometimes maintenance is harder!
