evening swap

Post by sipalittletea » Wed Mar 09, 2011 7:34 pm

OK, I am afraid to actually ask this question.

I just started this last week and I have a problem with it.

My "indulgences" usually happen on Friday nights AND the weekend.

Can I start my S-days Friday after dinner and quit my Sunday S day before dinner? In other words, treat Friday as an N day until the evening, but no snacks or sweets after dinner on Sunday? Or is that cheating?

Should I just make Sunday an N day? Or suck it up and not snack on Friday night? :(

I've had exactly the same question! Icecream calls me on Friday nights, but so far I've managed to avoid it.

I do this. I'm Jewish, so Friday night dinner is Shabbat dinner, and is supposed to be the nicest dinner of the week. Jewish holidays also start at sunset the night before, so this works for holidays for me as well.

You need to pick a consistent and unambiguous time to start and end your days. For me, it's dinner time. Yes, the Jewish holidays are supposed to start at sunset, but we're not nearly organized enough to time our dinner time to anything other than "when it's ready". Then you have to apply the same rule on Sunday that applies on Friday. If Friday dinner is an S meal, then Sunday dinner isn't, no exceptions.

For secular holidays, I decide if I'm going to be doing most of my eating during the day or at dinner time and later. If the answer is "dinner time and later", the next day is the S day. For example, I took an S day on February 15 for Valentine's day.

I will tell you, sometimes it is a little rough for me to transition back to an N day on Sunday night. But that may just be the way I am. I acknowledge that I need rules to keep my eating in bounds, but that doesn't mean I always like following them.

When I started NoS I started on Friday evening and ended Sunday at the evening meal. My weekends generally weren't S times, but Friday evening was.

I think several people have posted that they adjusted their NO S days based n lifestyle, days off of work different from the weekend, etc. Whatever works for you I would say as long as the principals of the plan stay the same.

Best of luck.
