Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

HUMMMM
Had a day off and got outside early this morning because I was thrilled that the humidity here finally broke! Did some Rural Rangering then about an hour of yard work and it was still pretty hot even w/out high humidity, and came in feeling weak, shaky, just not good.
Sooooooooooooo what's the first thought that I get?!
I should eat something!
I did not because I had had breakfast already and it was too early for lunch, but it got me thinking...if it's my first thought when I don't feel just right, how many times do I stuff my face to feel better thinking it might help? Emotionally? Physically?
I ran into this the other night with being upset about something after dinner and wanting candy.
Interesting, huh?

zeahpug,
I had similar insight when I started No S. It became REALLY APPARENT to me on N days that I used to reach for food OFTEN when things were not quite right for me.
I have not even been doing NO S that long, but I have found that by sticking religiously to N days, I started asking myself, "how am I going to handle this?" instead of "what am I going to eat?"
you are doing great,

I love pugs...they're so cute and so bossy...

My DD and I talked about getting 2 of them at one time. We were gonna get 2 black ones and call them Silk and Satin....crazy I know.
Creating and sustaining the No S habits are the only thing that will take me in the direction I want to go!

Pugs are the greatest. I have had different pugs for my whole life...since I was 5. My current pugs are named Zeah and Rufus. They are both 7 years old. I also have Labs. And Cats. I really can't say no to a needy animal. One pug and one lab are rescues. Rufus the rescued pug is blind.

He does okay though.
I can wholeheartedly recommend them as a breed as long as you do not mind snoring.

Way to persevere Zeahpug!! I know how tough that can be.

Creating and sustaining the No S habits are the only thing that will take me in the direction I want to go!

Working on the
SOMETIMES and what that means to me so I have set rules here on weekends. Going grocery shopping today and want to work on something to have for the evening sweet cravings.
The first week or so, late afternoon 'hunger' was my challenge. Even right after lunch I started to feel 'hungry' and want a snack.
Now I seem to be fighting after dinner sweet cravings. I've even gone to bed
really early just so I wouldn't cave.

Need to figure something out.
Saturday was actually very good under control...no breakfast- was at a garden party/wedding lunch had one plate of assorted cold salads and gazpacho plus a tiny pc. of coconut cake. No snacks lots of water. Dinner Pizza w/ chicken and spinach lite on the cheese. Brownie bites.
Sunday kinda out of control. Woke up feeling crummy (dogs sick..up and down all night) Kinda grazed all day. Did not make me feel good about myself. Bleck.

Have not been having success with No-S alone so have begun a new exercise regime.
Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone has been something I have been able to stick with in the past so I have commited to doing it daily for now...maybe 5 days a week eventually. Have several different DVDS to mix and match. Today I am off from work so I did nearly 6 miles.
Have been trying to do at least the 3 mile DVD every day. If I have time I can add miles. Started last Thursday. Started a Habitcal too.
Just my 10000 steps per day was not helping me reach my goal...I need a faster pace I guess.
Weighed in at 174 this morning, which is no loss in a month. Have measurements coming up 8/15- maybe that will be encouraging.
